An Aboriginal corporation with a difference
I believe AIG is a brave and courageous Aboriginal Corporation. They are willing to take risks, try things that others have put in too hard basket and above all stand up for what is right. They punch well above their weight when it comes to challenging the status quo of Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory.
Based in Darwin, we are an Aboriginal Corporation that has been operating since 1988. We are proudly self-funded and 100% Aboriginal owned, and we have a long-standing mandate of building stronger communities through projects that bring benefit to people living in communities.
Over the years our projects have varied from building infrastructure to funding school excursions and many things in between. In 2020 our focus will be on growing our Remote Laundries project, managing community stores, providing business support and governance support services and sponsoring one off projects on a need’s basis.
Our goal is to create wealth through our assets and spend it on Aboriginal people in the northern regions of the NT and because of this we have two distinct functions. Generating profit from investments and spending money on Aboriginal people through projects and sponsorships. We like to call the wealth creation and wealth distribution.
Our strategic direction
We are guided by our three strategic objectives:
- Economic development
- Ecological development and sustainability
- Social dividend and community benefit
